Under the new IT Act 2021, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has blocked 16 news-based YouTube channels using emergency powers. Today, the blocked channels are not only broadcasting fake news but also spreading anti-India content. In terms of national security and law and order Indian government took this action.
Of these, six were from Pakistan and the other 10 were from India. The total numbers of viewers in these blocked YouTube channels were 68 corers. The channels were spreading false news, endangering India’s national security, foreign relations and law &order situation.
Channels were regularly spreading false news, especially based on the Indian Armed Forces, Jammu and Kashmir and anti-India content. The government later said the news went viral on social media accounts run by Pakistan. Earlier, for the same reason, the Indian government blocked 22 YouTube channels.
